One of the main goals of the YMCA of Callaway County is to improve the overall health of the entire community.
Part of meeting that goal includes providing scholarships to area families and individuals who otherwise might be unable to participate in the Y's various programs and activities.
According to program director Sara McDaniel, that is why the annual Y Auction and Dinner - to be held this year on March 3 - which benefits the scholarship program is so important.
"If someone comes in an qualifies, they can receive up to 90 percent off their membership or activity fees," McDaniel said. "It really helps people in the community .... and leads to healthy living."
