Commission weighs options for trail markers

Setting up historic markers along the Stinson Trail is still under consideration.

The Fulton Historic Preservation Commission met Tuesday and discussed how to fund 7-10 wooden signs members would like to put along the trail.

Member Judy Schaneman told the commission the estimate she received on such signs was between $200-$500 a piece depending on the complexity of the design.

Deputy City Clerk Heather Cooke informed members that if the cost was more than $500, the city would have to get bids before purchasing anything. Members discussed presenting the idea to city council.

Dale Lewis, commission president, suggested that there may be some local businesses that would like to sponsor such markers.

It was decided that Schaneman would report back to the commission with a more precise number once speaking to the designer about what style of signs were wanted.
