Fire destroys KC mobile home

About a dozen volunteer firefighters battled an early Thursday morning fire that destroyed a Kingdom City mobile home.

Harley Hyde, chief of the North Callaway Fire Protection District, said the fire was reported shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday at 3034 County Road 226 in Kingdom City.

"I'm not sure of the amount of the damage but I believe the structure and contents are a total loss," Hyde said.

Hyde said the mobile home blaze was extinguished about 15 minutes after firemen arrived but the structure was destroyed.

"When we arrived, we called for mutual aid from Central Callaway Fire Protection District. The North Callaway Fire Protection District had a tanker and a pumper at the scene and Central sent two tankers and one pumper truck," Hyde said.

Hyde said everyone was out of the structure when firemen arrived and no one was injured in the blaze.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, Hyde said.

About a dozen volunteer firemen from North Callaway and Central fire protection districts were at the scene for about two hours Thursday morning.
