When Darla Cassidy first heard her daughter wanted to join horse bowl, she couldn't believe it.

Her 10-year-old daughter didn't even own a horse, and horse bowl merely practices horse knowledge; there's no actual horses involved. But Charlee was hooked and continued with horse bowl despite her 4-H club's lack of a horse bowl team.

Charlee, a fifth-grader at Williamsburg Elementary School, practiced with the Callaway/Audrain county horse bowl team last year and wound up winning first individually in her division at the regional level and fourth at the state level. She was also placed on a team at the state level where she helped her team take third place.
