The Republican presidential race is heating up as results from Tuesday's Iowa caucus rolled in Wednesday causing Rep. Michele Bachmann to drop out and the other GOP candidates to press on.

Area residents who said they plan to vote the Republican ticket in the 2012 presidential election spoke up Wednesday about their preference for the Republican nomination.

Joseph Millar, of Fulton, said he's behind Ron Paul, a U.S. congressman from Texas. He explained that during Barack Obama's presidential campaign run, Obama promised to bring about a change.

"I didn't see a lot of follow through," Millar said.

Millar insisted Paul was a "real candidate to bring about a real change."
