After 24 games and 15 losses - including five in a row - there was a welcome first and a silver lining for the Fulton Hornets basketball team. Well, as much of one as you can find in a close loss to a rival in your regular-season finale.
"(Mexico junior guard) Jae'on Nunnelly made a huge play to beat us," Fulton head coach Marques Baldwin said. "This is one of the first games where I feel like someone made a play to beat us, rather than us beating ourselves."
Nunnelly converted a traditional three-point play to break a 50-all tie with 28.5 seconds to go. The shot gave the Bulldogs the go-ahead points and sent the Hornets home with a 57-53 North Central Missouri Conference loss on Friday night.
