Julie Roark, who manages the SERVE, Inc. food bank in Fulton, surveys the mostly barren food bank shelves on Wednesday afternoon. "The Scouting for Food" drive by local Boy Scouts couldn't come at a better time on Saturday. Right now we have food for only about 15 families," Roark said.

The shelves at the food bank at SERVE, Inc. in Fulton are almost empty.

"The Scouting for Food drive this Saturday will arrive just in time. It's really getting serious," said Julie Roark, who supervises the food bank at SERVE, Inc.

"Right now we have only enough food to help about 15 people," Roark said.

She said the food bank has some dried cheesy tuna, cans of corn, green beans and some peanut butter.

"Normally our shelves are full. We provide food for about 1,000 people," Roark said.

Scouts from the Fulton area will solicit contributions on Saturday in their Scouting for Food drive.

"They will collect food on Saturday and hopefully we will have it on hand next Monday," she said.

Roark said she hopes the current situation at the food bank in Fulton helps motivate people to donate food Saturday.
