Chism retires after 34 years in Treasurer's Office

Marsha Chism was honored Friday during a retirement reception at the Callaway County Courthouse for her 34 years of service to the Callaway County Treasurer's Office.

Chism worked in the office for six years before she was elected as treasurer 28 years ago. She will retire at the end of her current term in January.

More than 100 people attended the reception and enjoyed punch and cake.

Callaway County Auditor Rosemary Gannaway presented Chism with a plaque honoring her for her 34 years of service to the Callaway County Treasurer's Office.

Two of those attending the event also worked for many years in the treasurer's office. They are former deputy treasurer Joyce Vandelicht, who was deputy treasurer for 21 years, and Debbie Zerr, who has served as deputy treasurer for the last eight years. Zerr was elected as Callaway County treasurer last Nov. 6 and will take office as treasurer in January.

The three women represented 63 years of service to the treasurer's office.

Chism said she worked in the office when Irene Glascock was treasurer. Chism succeeded Glascock in the office.
