Metcalf enjoys career night in reserve role, Thunderbirds edge Silex 60-59

KINGDOM CITY - Junior center Brett Metcalf came off the bench to score seven of his career-high 18 points in the fourth quarter Tuesday night, helping the North Callaway Thunderbirds hold off Silex in a 60-59 EMO victory.

North Callaway trailed 41-37 at halftime and 51-49 heading into the fourth quarter, but Metcalf sparked the Thunderbirds' comeback by producing all but four of their points in the final 8 minutes.

Silex had one last chance to pull off a dramatic win or force overtime after calling a timeout with 1.8 seconds remaining, but a desperation shot by the Owls skipped off the backboard as the final buzzer sounded.
