Staff with Our House: Caring for Callaway's Homeless hoped for a good turnout to their first Holiday Dinner Fundraiser hosted at Beks Restaurant Sunday, but what they got blew their expectations out of the water.

Between ticket sales, tips and the silent auction, Our House raked in $10,000 for the operation of the organization's two homeless shelters in Fulton.

"We did really well," said Our House Executive Director Brad Sheppard. "We are amazed with how the community came out and supported us."

The single event, which gave patrons access to a holiday meal during two seating times at the restaurant along with a silent auction for $35 a ticket, raised 10 percent of the shelter's $90,000 annual operating budget. Sheppard said the funds would get the shelter through the end of this year and well into 2013.
