Although the training was stressful, Circuit Clerk Judy Groner said Wednesday most Callaway County Circuit Court files are now accessible by computers.

"The staff was eager to get this done and they handled the transition from paper to electronic files beautifully," Groner said.

The Callaway County Circuit Court was chosen by the State Courts Administrator to serve as a pilot project for eventual conversion of all circuit court paper files in the state to electronic files.

"Fulton attorneys also were eager to go paperless as well," Groner said.

Last week officials from the State Courts Administrator's office came to the Callaway County Courthouse to check out Callaway County's new electronic filing system and to take what was learned to other counties around the state.

Earlier this year, a state survey chose one large county and one small county to make the transition to electronic filing. St. Charles County was chosen as the large county and Callaway was the small county.

"Since Callaway County was serving as a test for other counties, the state paid for the computers we needed for the transition from paper to electronic filing," Groner said.
