Colby Stuart, 21, of New Bloomfield was arrested Sunday after his vehicle was pursued by a Callaway County deputy through various county roads near New Bloomfield.
The Callaway County Sheriff's Office reported that at 1 a.m. Sunday a deputy attempted to stop a black Mercury Cougar sedan for a traffic violation on Old Highway 54 south of New Bloomfield.
The Sheriff's Department reported Stuart failed to stop the vehicle and led a deputy on a pursuit along various county roads. The deputy reported Stuart eventually jumped out of the moving vehicle on County Road 371 west of New Bloomfield.
Stuart was chased into a wooded area but he eluded the officer. It was determined that when Stuart jumped out of the moving vehicle he left it in gear.
A passenger was sleeping in the vehicle, which rolled about one-fourth of a mile before running into a ditch.
