Rotary seeks nominees for Law Award

August 9th, 2012 in News

Since 1998, the Fulton Rotary Club has recognized Callaway County law enforcement officers for their service to the community.

The organization once again is asking for nominees for its G.W. Law, Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award, requesting area citizens to nominate an officer they believe embodies the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self."

"Rotary is a service organization, and the Rotary felt this would be a good way to focus on that "Service Above Self' and recognize somebody from law enforcement," said Charlie Anderson, chair of the award committee.

Any community member can make a nomination by submitting their favorite officer's name, agency and a statement as to why they are being nominated. These nominations can be sent to Anderson at canderson@callawayambulance.org, or at P.O. Box 246, Fulton, MO 65251.

The winning officer will be honored at the Fulton Rotary's regular noon meeting on Sept. 19 at the Fulton Country Club.

The G.W. Law Award is named in honor of a former Callaway County sheriff who was attacked by a mob - and later died - while guarding a prisoner.
