Connie Hamacher, head of Lincoln University's Nursing Science program, will be the school's interim president starting Aug. 16 - the first day of current President Carolyn Mahoney's retirement.

And Head Librarian Jerome Offord will be the university's Interim Provost, also starting Aug. 16.

LU Curators made the announcement late this morning, two days after they held a closed telephone conference call meeting about personnel issues.

Hamacher will report to the curators, the LU news release said, and Offord will report to Hamacher.

Both assignments are in effect until LU hires a new president and he or she starts working in the job.

The news release said both Hamacher and Offord "have agreed they will not be candidates for the position of President."

Curators have named a presidential search committee, which held its first meeting last week, and hopes to have hired a new president by next spring
