Matt Harline, Fulton's assistant director of administration, recently received the Richard R. Noll Outstanding Assistant Award by the Missouri City/County Management Association.

Harline, who has been with the city for five years, said he was honored that Fulton Director of Administration Bill Johnson nominated him for the award.

"Really it was incredibly flattering, and it really meant a lot that he nominated me," Harline said. "My name's on the award, but the people who work with me and for me are the only reason I was able to accomplish what they saw in me.

"This is an award for the city, and it's neat the City of Fulton was recognized."

Harline described receiving the award as "probably my best moment in my professional life," but said his favorite part of his job is just the day-to-day work.

"That's what I love to do - solving problems and helping bring people services every day," Harline said. "I chose this job to make a difference in people's lives."

Johnson said he nominated Harline - who previously worked with the Mid Missouri Solid Waste Management and also served with the Columbia City Council - because he felt his co-worker had put in the time and work to justify the recognition.

"Matt's done a very nice job for the City of Fulton since he started," Johnson said. "He just really loves what he does, and doing the right thing for the citizens.

"I just thought he'd earned it."
