Hornets finally win close one, clip Tigers in 10

Close games aren't anything new for the Fulton Hornets. But this year, getting the raw end of the tight ones has been even more familiar.

Headed into Tuesday night's matchup against the Kirksville Tigers, the Hornets were 0-4 in games decided by two runs or less.

Now that record stands at 1-5.

Fulton got a one-out single to left field by senior catcher Burke Echelmeier in the bottom of the 10th inning to score junior courtesy runner Gabe Huff from second base. It was a walk-off RBI for Echelmeier, giving the Hornets a 5-4 North Central Missouri Conference win over Kirksville at the high school athletic complex.
