Hornets sputter again, lose big to Spartans

September 26th, 2011 in News

The Fulton Hornets won the turnover battle and were the least-penalized team Friday night against the Moberly Spartans.

And yet, the Hornets lost by at least 40 points for the third time this season. Go figure.

"It's frustrating right now," Fulton head coach Pat Kelley said. "...But the bottom line is that Moberly wore us down up front.

"We couldn't keep up with them and hats off to them."

The Spartans' stable of running backs and multitude of offensive formations most certainly tuckered out Fulton. And it was the difference in the Moberly's 47-7 North Central Missouri Conference win over the Hornets at Robert E. Fisher Stadium.

Fulton (1-4, 1-3 NCMC), coming off a 10-8 NCMC win at Marshall last week, hoped to get some good momentum in front of a home crowd after back-to-back NCMC road games.
