Celebration for 150th anniversary of creation of "Kingdom of Callaway' set for Sept. 30

A miniature model diorama of the Civil War Battle of Moore's Mill south of Calwood will be displayed at the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society Museum on Sept. 30 during an observance of the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Kingdom of Callaway.

Colorful Civil War re-enactors clad in Civil War uniforms of the North and South will participate Sept. 30 in a 150th anniversary observance of the forming of the Kingdom of Callaway.

The event is planned to begin on the Callaway County Courthouse square.

During a brief ceremony, the Callaway County Commission will issue a proclamation on the forming of the legendary Kingdom of Callaway during the Civil War 150 years ago.

The Blue-Gray Color Guard at the event will be provided by the Elijah Gates Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

The event will begin at approximately 5 p.m. after the Fulton High School Homecoming Parade clears through the area.

After the brief courthouse ceremony, the Blue-Gray Color Guard will march along Court Street to the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Museum, located at 513 Court St.
