CMCA forced to cut staff, services

Two Callaway County employees of the Family Resource Center in Fulton will lose their jobs next month because of state funding cutbacks.

Callaway County residents applying for energy assistance this year will have to mail their application to Columbia and won't be able to talk with someone about the program at the Family Resource Center in Fulton.

With government funding for two programs chopped in half, those services provided by the Callaway County Family Resource Center will be cut back on Oct. 1.

"Staffing changes are necessary to operate within available funding," said Angela Hirsch, Central Missouri Community Action (CMCA) community services director.

Hirsch said the Fulton office of CMCA will lose two of 12 current employees. They are Emily Young, community services supervisor, and Andrea Langton, family advocate.
