Pintos pick apart punchless T-Birds

CALIFORNIA - North Callaway head football coach Mike Emmons might have been kind in measuring his Thunderbirds' troubling regression.

If North Callaway was dazed after a last-second, 36-28 home loss to Eldon in its season opener, the Thunderbirds were downright dreadful in being demolished by the California Pintos.

Senior back Christopher Allee rushed for a game-high 111 yards and three touchdowns, and senior quarterback Grant Burger threw for a pair of long scores as California coasted past North Callaway 43-7 on Friday night.

The Pintos pounced all over the Thunderbirds (0-2) in the first quarter, opening up a 17-0 lead, and breezed into halftime with a comfortable 30-0 advantage. North Callaway dodged a shutout when senior tailback Cody Jones plowed into the end zone from 1 yard out late in the third quarter.

A mere two games into the season and the Thunderbirds find themselves trending in the wrong direction.
