But federal court clerks keep up their fast pace and service

October 19th, 2011 in News

To clerk at the federal courthouse is to adapt to the needs of many, while maintaining a Golden Rule attitude.

The job also required ingenuity at the former location of the U.S. Federal Courthouse for the Western District Central Division. The office of five cheerful, dedicated women made files fit in nooks and crannies, juggled outdated recording equipment to create additional courtrooms, and even shared a copy room with the break room and office space.

"We don't sit and watch," said Jackie Price, courtroom deputy. "We had to be self-sufficient at our old building; and it has rolled over here."

The new Christopher Bond Federal Courthouse at the corner of Lafayette and State streets in Jefferson City may have doubled their individual office space, given them a first-time file room and multiple cabinets for storage and created a safer place to conduct business. But these women are still running full-throttle to ensure the public, judges and attorneys have what they need.
