Fire consumes home east of Fulton

Firefighters from Central Callaway Fire Protection District and South Callaway Fire Protection District extinguish flames at this residence Saturday located east of Fulton.

Firefighters worked for more than five hours putting out flames at a residence east of Fulton on Saturday evening. The Central Callaway Fire Protection District was called to the blaze at 5:15 p.m. Saturday when a neighbor spotted smoke coming from the home of Ernest and Kimberly Bell on County Road 133. The Bells were not at home when their residence caught fire.

Ronnie Huff, captain with Central, said there were three animals in the house at the time of the blaze, two dogs and a cat, that did not make it. No one was injured in the fire. The South Callaway Fire Protection District also responded to the fire. Huff said firefighters were at the scene such a long time - until 10:50 p.m. - because the shingles in between the plywood and metal roof continued to burn.
