TB confirmed at Westminster College

The Missouri State Health Department has notified Westminster College that one of its students has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis.

According to a release from the school, the diagnosis was a result of a routine tuberculosis screening procedure at The Wellness Center of Westminster College.

Director of Public Relations Rob Crouse said Saturday the student in question - whom the college cannot name for confidentiality reasons - is being taken care of, but also kept isolated from students and staff.

"The student is being kept in one of the rooms and the wellness center staff are taking the patient everything they need - food, movies - they are getting individual attention," Crouse said, noting the student was started on medication "as soon as we knew we had an active case."
