William Woods University students, faculty and staff last week donated enough food to SERVE to make 570 meals for people in need.
In a competition between residence halls, WWU students collected more than 600 items, totaling about 420 pounds. The hall collecting the most was Lambert Hall, which is the Alpha Chi Omega chapter house.
Faculty and staff brought non-perishable food to their annual Thanksgiving luncheon Nov. 18, resulting in another 440 pounds for SERVE.
"We're pleased to be able to do this each year for the less fortunate people in our community," said Kathy Groves, director of human resources and benefit services. "With more people in need due to the poor economy, it is especially gratifying to share our bounty and help out during the holidays."
