NEW BLOOMFIELD - The R-3 School District's $6.1 million budget is on schedule to meet income and spending estimates, Superintendent David Tramel said Thursday.
"The budget is still very sound and conservative," Tramel told the New Bloomfield Board of Education during their monthly meeting Thursday night.
Tramel said Jason Hoffman of Jefferson City, a school board financial consultant, has been providing valuable information to make sure the 2011-12 budget stays on track.
Tramel noted Hoffman has provided the average fund balance for each month of the school year during the last three years in order to help the board understand where the district should be at the end of each month.
Like all school districts, New Bloomfield's income and expenses vary widely throughout the school year. Balances are high just after tax collections in January and show big deficits in June when teachers are paid for three months in advance during the summer break.
