Linemen from the city's Electric Department were busy Thursday putting wreaths up on high and stretching garlands across light poles.

Decorating started Thursday and will take about four days to complete. The downtown area will be finished first, in time for the Holiday Open House today. Christmas lights that outline some of the downtown area businesses turned on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Lineman Patrick Craighead said the lights and decorations seem to be the annual "trigger that makes everybody get into the holiday mood."
