The plaque and part of the old Liberty Bridge over Stinson Creek was saved when the bridge was demolished last year to make way for the new roundabout along Business 54.

The plaque and part of the bridge became a small monument in nearby Memorial Park next to an artillery piece.

David Beaver, commander of Fulton American Legion Post 210, said the Veterans Day rededication of the plaque at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2011, was an appropriate way to honor veterans.

"We thank veterans for their service. If you are not a veteran, this is a good day to find a veteran and thank him," Beaver said.
