HANNIBAL - William Woods sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Abernathy saved five shots but that wasn't enough in a 1-0 American Midwest Conference semifinal loss to Hannibal-LaGrange on Monday.
The Lady Owls were outshot 7-4 and gave up the lone goal to Hannibal-LaGrange forward Fernanda Miaci six minutes into the second half. Hannibal-La Grange had 16 total shots on the day. With the loss, William Wood ends the season with an overall record of 8-9-2.

tournament game rescheduled for Thursday
The Owls AMC semifinal game against Hannibal-LaGrange, which was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, has been postponed until 1 p.m. on Thursday. William Woods (10-8-1) advanced to this round on the heels of a 2-0 win over Williams Baptist College on Saturday.

earn postseason honors
Blue Jays freshman goalkeeper Caleb Marquis was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Co-Newcomer of the Year on Monday. He finished the season with a record of 9-2-1 and a goals against average of 1.07.
Senior backer Matt Shoults earned first-team All-SLIAC honors while senior midfielder Sean Peterson earned second team recognition.
Sophomore midfielders Jason Joshua, Zach Moore, Tyler Walker, junior midfielder Adam Ross and Marquis all were honorable mention All-SLIAC picks. Senior backer JP Thompson was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
Head coach Martin Clayes was named the SLIAC's Coach of the Year, leading the Blue Jays to an 11-4-4 record and a league title.

grab postseason recognition
Blue Jays libero Megan Boschert was honored as the SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year by league coaches on Monday. Boschert leads the league and all NCAA Division III players with 7.08 digs a set and totaled a school-record 664 digs in 2011.
Boschert also earned second team All-SLIAC honors while freshman middle hitter Gracey Moon earned first team accolades. Moon led the team in total kills (280), kills per set (2.5) and kill percentage (.318). Junior outside hitter Alex Berry earned all-conference honors for a third year in a row with an honorable mention nod and senior middle hitter Lisa Priaulx was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
