Human Rights Commission plans forum

November 2nd, 2011 in News

The members of Fulton's Human Rights Commission are on a mission: To determine the group's purpose.

After discussing the question of what the commission should be doing among themselves and asking various community members that same question, they now are ready to seek the public's input.

At 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 15, the Human Rights Commission will host a public forum at the John C. Harris Community Center - a gathering that was the main topic of discussion at the commission's meeting Tuesday night.

"I left our meeting really excited last time. I talked to some of the leaders in the community, and I got a mixed response," commission member Carmen Brandt said. "Some, especially (those in their) 60s and 70s, think of the Human Rights as addressing issues with housing, and I think people still see it that way."
