Couple launches "relevant' church

It's not every visitor to Fulton that decides to start up a church in the city. But that is just what Adam and Shawn Schnelting decided after their first trip to the community.

The Schneltings, who moved from O'Fallon, launched Relevant Church on Easter and have been busy planning outreach events to spread the word that there's a new church in town. The next service will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 22, at the Fulton Cinema 8.

Adam Schnelting said his goal in starting Relevant is not to pull members away from other churches but to reach people who don't want to come to church, feel uncomfortable with the traditional church service or don't have a sense of what church really means.
