When seventh-grader Katerina Roesner heard one of the first tasks to clean up the outdoor classroom at Williamsburg Elementary School was pulling weeds, she jumped right in.

"I've been doing a lot of weeding lately," Roesner said, adding jokingly, "I'm a professional."

Roesner is on Williamsburg's student council. The council, along with the Modern Woodmen Junior Youth Service Club, the Williamsburg PTO, the Williamsburg Pioneers 4-H club, and a scout from Boy Scout Troop 32 all worked together Tuesday after school on a Join Hands Day volunteer project.
