Visitors, council again cite dog owner responsibility

The responsibilities of dog owners once again was a topic of discussion during Tuesday night's Fulton City Council meeting.

During the public comments portion of the meeting, resident Debra Jones addressed the council regarding pit bulls - a breed that has been heavily criticized recently for a string of attacks over the past two months.

"I have been with pit bulls about 20 years. Four-and-a-half years ago we had a situation at the shelter where someone had taken a young pit bull (about 7 weeks old) and poured acid all over it. The television station came and did a story and called him Pitiful Pete," Jones said. "I took him in. The vets told me he'd probably be highly aggressive and never be able to be around people because of what happened to him."
