Mike Boulware was named the next president of the Kingdom of Callaway Supper after events wrapped up Tuesday evening from the 106th annual Kingdom Supper.

The evening's events included a performance by The Rooster Creek Boys and a video clip of Ron Lutz. Check Thursday's edition of The Fulton Sun for more photos and a detailed account of the 106th Kingdom of Callaway Supper.

A Hatton native, Boulware has worked at The Callaway Bank for more than 35 years, where he is currently the vice president and business development officer. The Kingdom Supper president is chosen every year by the Supper president nominating committee. Joe Crane, chair of the committee, said members choose a president from a different part of the county every year. The northern part of the county was in line next.

"Mike's been involved in many different organizations in Callaway," Crane said. "We just thought he was as good a president as we could have for the 107th Kingdom Supper."

As next year's Supper president, Boulware will be involved with planning the event and choosing the next guest of honor.

"I want to try and plan something that will encourage attendance, because I'd like to see this event continue for a long, long time," Boulware said.

He added that he was honored and humbled to be chosen, and he looks forward to asking Dr. Michael Basnett, this year's Supper president, for advice. He said he's never run across another community that has a similar event to the Kingdom Supper.

"I think it's kind of unique and special," Boulware said.

Boulware is a North Callaway High School graduate and a 1974 graduate from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Boulware is the son of Woodrow and Jalie Davis Boulware. Boulware and his wife, Brenda, reside on a centennial family farm in Hatton. They have a daughter, two sons and six grandchildren.
