The Fulton Post Office Bar & Grill, 100 W. 5th St., is now offering a free shuttle service to and from the bar during in the evening until closing.

Kevin Langworthy, manager of the bar and restaurant, said the idea for the shuttle service came from the owner of the business, Webb Langworthy, who is his father.

"Webb noticed that a lot of casinos and hotels were offering free shuttle service and he thought the idea also would help create business at the Post Office Bar & Grill," Langworthy said.

Unlike some other bars that offer free rides home during the holiday season only, the Post Office Bar and Grill will offer a shuttle service to and from the bar, seven days a week throughout the year.

"We will pick up customers who want to come here and we will take them home as well. We have placed a three-mile radius limit for the service around Fulton but we also will include Kingdom City in the service. The service is available for truckers who may be staying overnight there as well as other people in Kingdom City," Langworthy said.

"Since we are providing the service for free, we only ask that a gratuity is required for the driver to compensate him for his time," Langworthy said.

"We started this service last Thursday and it has been popular. I would estimate that at least 20 people have used the service so far. We have had a lot of favorable comments. This will help keep our streets safer and keep our patrons out of trouble," Langworthy said.

The shuttle service to and from the bar and restaurant is available from 5 p.m. to the bar's 1:30 a.m. closing seven days a week.

The service is provided to and from any residence or location on asphalt roads within a three mile radius of Fulton and also to and from Kingdom City. Patrons of all hotels and motels in Kingdom City and Fulton are included with the free service.

Langworthy said he expects the service to create a lot of extra business for the firm. He said it also will help keep the city safer and may protect customers from charges of driving while intoxicated and subsequently losing their driver licenses.

The Post Office Bar & Grill shuttle service is for pick up and drop off only with no stopping along the way.

Langworthy said people wanting to use the shuttle service can call the shuttle at 573-826-9911 or the Post Office Bar & Grill at 573-642-2927.

The driver, Langworthy said, has the right to refuse shuttle service at his discretion.
