Twenty years ago, Daryl Dzurick got an old bass boat as a birthday present from his wife. A fisherman since he was a young boy, the gift could scratch that itch he gets for going out and catching a big mouth bass. Pretty soon he had a small group of wranglers get together for private amateur bass fishing competitions.

And that has turned into, what is now, the Callaway Bass Anglers - a group of 30 fishers from around the county getting together to out-bass the boat next to them. The group's next excursion, scheduled for July 9, will be from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. at Coffman Beach Access on the Lake of the Ozarks.
