Area canines invited to show off art skills at fair

Though most artists dip their brush into paint before they begin, a special group of artists at the fair will be dipping their tails instead.

During this year's 4-H dog show at the Kingdom of Callaway County Fair there will also be an art competition between the canines. The dogs can use their tails or paws to paint with non-toxic paint on paper donated by the Ovid Bell Press. Owners can choose one art piece to enter the show to be judged. One show is strictly for 4-H members, but the other is open to any dog willing to show off their artistic side. A $3 entry fee is required to enter the show, and all proceeds will go toward the Callaway County Humane Society. The dog show and painting will start at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, in the livestock show arena.
