Flood threat declines, heat advisory issued

A Callaway County flood watch task force meeting set for Thursday was canceled after predictions of the flood crest on the Missouri River continued to drop.

Michelle Kidwell, director of Callaway County Emergency Management, said Thursday afternoon the meeting was not necessary because the National Weather Service lowered its earlier prediction of a 28.8-foot flood crest on Friday to 27.8 feet on Sunday.

It marked the second time this week that flood predictions for the river along Callaway County's southern border were lowered.
