The Lady Birds won their second straight game and ended the South Callaway Tournament on a good note with a 55-34 win over New Bloomfield on Saturday afternoon at South Callaway High School. North Callaway outscored the Lady Wildcats by a score of 29-15 in the second half to put the game out of reach.
New Bloomfield (4-8) came out firing, particularly from beyond the 3-point arc. The Lady Wildcats hit three consecutive 3-pointers to start the game before North Callaway came alive. Freshman guard Jaida Gray led North Callaway with 13 points while junior guard Jordan Gray pitched in 11. Senior forward Morgan Brown-Emmons put in 10 points, including 3-of-4 3-pointers.
New Bloomfield was led by senior guard Elizabeth Clarks nine points and another seven points from junior forward Chelsea Wiler.
"It was good to get back-to-back wins," North Callaway head coach Jack Peace said. "A lot of players stepped their game up and I am looking forward to our game against Hallsville."
North Callaway lost to the previously mentioned Hallsville team 70-47 at home on Monday night in Mid-Missouri Conference play. Hallsville, ranked No. 4 in the state in Class 3, fell behind North Callaway for much of the first quarter and second quarter.
But a 3-pointer from Carson Forge put them ahead for good. It was three of her game-high 27 points and she was one of three Hallsville players in double figures. Lauren Little had 13 for Hallsville (13-0, 2-0 MMC) and Taylor Dinyer added 12 points, all of them coming in the second half.
The Lady Birds got 16 points and six rebounds from Brown-Emmons and another 10 points from senior guard Kelsey West. The junior varsity Lady Birds also fell to Hallsville, their loss being by a score of 43-22. Tara Oberlag led the way with 12 points.
North Callaway (4-8, 1-1 MMC) next plays at Southern Boone on Thursday starting at 6 p.m. New Bloomfield played at Linn on Monday night but scores were not reported.

MOKANE - The T-Birds scored a season-high in points on its way to a win in the seventh place game of the South Callaway tournament on Saturday afternoon. North Callaway (3-9) hit double digit scoring efforts in every quarter and built its five-point halftime lead into a 14 point winning margin.
T-Birds senior forward Jacob Stafford led all players with 28 points while senior forward Andrew Attebery added 21 points of his own to go along with eight rebounds. Sophomore forward Zack Eads had 10 points while junior guard Zack Lavy had eight points, five steals and four assists.
"It's good to get in the win column," coach Tim Turlington said. "The players played well in the tourney and we look forward to winning a couple of games this week."
North Callaway (3-9) takes on Hallsville in Mid-Missouri Conference play tonight starting at 6 p.m.

The Lady Hornets were down 38-36 headed into the final quarter of play but got outscored 17-5 in the fourth in Monday nights home loss to Blair Oaks. Fulton (6-8) did not help themselves, turning the ball over to Blair Oaks 14 of 23 times total for the game in the fourth quarter.
Junior forward Corri Hamilton had 16 points on the night to lead Fulton on the night. Junior guard Rachel Washington had 10 and senior forward chipped in with nine points. Blair Oaks' Leeann Polony led all scorers with 21 points.
"We got outworked and outrebounded," head coach Jenny Preiss said. "They had eight offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter alone and they just beat us in transition and outworked us."
The Lady Hornets travel to Jefferson City to take on Helias Thursday at 6 p.m.

CALIFORNIA - The Hornets bounced back from a tough loss to Southern Boone to beat California in the third place game of the California Tournament on Saturday afternoon. Despite getting outscored by the Pintos 27-18 in the final quarter, the Hornets held on to improve to 8-5 on the season.
Three Fulton players reached double figures led by a big number from senior guard Anthony Porter. Porter dropped 27 points, including 12 3-pointers to lead all scorers. Sophomore guard Deon Galbreat added 18 points and senior forward Nick Christensen added 10 points.
Fulton had a 28-27 lead headed into the second half before rattling off a 20-7 third quarter to take a 48-34 lead into the final period. The Hornets play at Helias Friday starting at 6 p.m.

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark., - The Owls won a second straight game and evened their American Midwest Conference record to 2-2 with a road win over Williams Baptist on Saturday afternoon. William Woods' shot 60 percent as a team on the day.
The Owls had three players in double figures, led by 24 points from sophomore guard Logan Decker. Decker hit 9-of-12 shots from the field including 6-of-8 from 3-point range. Freshman guard Jonathon Nutt dished out eight assists, had seven rebounds and scored 18.
Sophomore forward Elliott Black chipped in 14 points as well. AMC play continues for William Woods (8-11, 2-2 AMC) on Thursday against Park University. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. at Anderson Arena.

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark., - The Lady Owls stayed undefeated in AMC play with a win over Williams Baptist on Saturday afternoon. William Woods shot 51 percent from the field while holding the opponent to just 32 percent shooting.
Senior forward Rachel Baker led William Woods with 23 points and also threw in seven rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal. Senior forward Jestine Gerber also reached double digits, scoring 20 points, including 7-of-11 shooting and 5-of-9 from the 3-point line.
William Woods (17-1, 4-0 AMC) held a 39-25 halftime lead and outrebounded Williams Baptist 39-30 on the day. They'll play against conference opponent Park University at home on Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m.

Westminster had 12 of 16 players score a point in their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win against Principia on Saturday. The balanced team effort led to the team's fifth straight win and ran its record to 10-6 overall and 7-0 in conference play.
The Blue Jays, who shot a blistering 59 percent from the field, got double digit scoring efforts from two players, led by sophomore guard Skylar Tolson. Tolson scored 15 points on the day while senior forward Jake Vislay added 13 points for Westminster.
The Blue Jays travel to St. Louis to take on Webster University in conference play on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Like their male counterparts, the Westminster women won big over Principia on Saturday to run their win streak to five consecutive games. The Lady Blue Jays ran off 17 straight points to start the game and build a lead that was never even in danger of being taken over in this St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.
Westminster shot 51 percent from the field and and got the better of Principia on the boards 41-31. Junior guard Rachel Backes had 16 points and eight assists for her team. She was one of four players for Westminster in double figures with freshman guard Leigh Ann Lutz adding 14 points, sophomore forward Hannah Kloster scoring 13 and sophomore guard Kenna Cornelson finishing with 11 points.
The Lady Blue Jays (10-5, 7-0 SLIAC) continue play on Wednesday night at Webster University in another SLIAC contest. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
