Four people injured in weekend accidents

Four people were injured in two weekend accidents in Callaway County.

Three people were injured in an accident Saturday in Callaway County east of Holts Summit when a vehicle overturned several times.

The driver, Kayla S. Tripp, 43, Holts Summit, was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia with moderate injuries. Two passengers, Lori K. Baysinger, 34, Holts Summit, and Curtis G. King, 28, Jefferson City, were transported by ambulance to St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the one-vehicle accident occurred when Tripp was eastbound on Missouri AA east of Holts Summit at 11:15 p.m. Saturday. Her 1998 Jeep Cherokee crested a hill at a high rate of speed, traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected, went off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned multiple times, the patrol reported.

Tripp and King, who were not wearing a seat belt, were both ejected from the vehicle, the patrol reported.

Baysinger, who was wearing a seat belt, was not ejected from the vehicle.

In an all-terrain vehicle accident, an Auxvasse man was injured shortly before midnight east of Auxvase on Friday in Callaway County.

The patrol reported the accident occurred when Justin M. Jennings, 17, Auxvasse, was northbound on Route A at 11:48 p.m. on a 2002 Honda all-terrain vehicle. Jennings failed to stop at a stop sign at County Road 1048, made a left turn at high rate of speed, and was ejected from the vehicle, the patrol reported.

Jennings was transported by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia in serious condition.
