$688,000 contract let on bridge near Mokane

Construction is expected to be completed this year for improvements on the Auxvasse Creek Bridge near Mokane on Missouri 94 in Callaway County.

The Missouri 94 bridge is located three miles east of Mokane.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has awarded a contract to Lehman Construction LLC of California, Mo., after the firm submitted the low bid of $688,439.08.

The contract calls for replacement of the bridge's deck and beams.

The work is part of Missouri Department of Transportation's Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program. The plan calls for improvements over a five-year span on 800 of Missouri's worst bridges. The program is expected to be completed by the end of 2013.

In Central Missouri, 90 bridges are being replaced or repaired under the program.
