Lady Hornets beat Boonville to up Class 4 District 10 tournament play in Eldon

Fulton extended its season for at least one more game with a 64-58 win over North Central Missouri Conference rival-Boonville in Class 4 District 10 play on Monday night at Eldon High School. Fulton outscored Boonville 22-17 in the fourth quarter on its way to victory.

The Lady Hornets had three players in double figures, led by junior forward Cori Hamilton's 19 points. Sophomore guard Bailey Mitchell added 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Senior guard Meghan Davis dropped in 14 of her own.

"We came out pretty quick but Boonville got on a run headed into halftime," Fulton head coach Jenny Preiss said. "I told the girls that whoever won the third quarter was going to win the game."

The Lady Hornets (9-15) won that eight minutes 9-7 and outpunched the Pirates in a high-scoring fourth quarter, which included two clutch 3-pointers from Mitchell. Fulton plays top-seeded Osage tonight at 6 p.m.

New Bloomfield Boys split pair of conference games

ST. ELIZABETH - The Wildcats split last week's games getting double digit performances from a trio of players in each contest. New Bloomfield lost a Thursday game to Show-Me Conference-foe St. Elizabeth by a score of 76-49.

Senior forward Daniel Berry had a team-high 13 points while senior guard Aaron Bedsworth had 12. Sophomore guard Greg Bedsworth added 10 of his own. St. Elizabeth got a game-high 33 points from Caleb Heckemeyer and 17 from Ryan Loethen.

They bounced back for an 89-53 win against Tuscumbia on Friday evening. New Bloomfield kept their starters in for just three quarters. Aaron Bedsworth led New Bloomfield with 27 points while Berry threw in 26 of his own. Senior guard Kolby O'Dowd dropped in 14 points and added eight assists and six steals.

The Wildcats play at New Haven tonight starting at 6 p.m. then take on Eugene in a make-up game starting at 6 p.m.

ASHLAND - The Bulldogs rebounded from a tough third quarter but were not able to overcome the the host Southern Boone Eagles in Friday nights game. South Callaway fell to 13-10 on the season and 4-3 in the Mid-Missouri Conference.

"It seems lately we have been hitting 2-3 minute stretches where we struggle to score," head coach Tony Brandt said. "We have to eliminate those stretches if we want to make a run in our district tourney."

South Callaway hosts Hallsville in the regular season finale Friday night starting at 6 p.m.
