Though not by the widest of margins, the Lady Blue Jays extended their current school record for consecutive wins by escaping with a 66-64 win over Spalding University in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Junior guard Rachel Backes led the team in scoring for the eighth time this season, totaling 15 points. Sophomore guard Kenna Cornelson was one behind her with 14 points.
Wednesday's home game against SLIAC opponent Fontbonne has been postponed until February 7. The Lady Blue Jays (13-5, 10-0) play at Greenville on Saturday at 1 p.m.

LOUISVILLE - The Blue Jays lost their third straight SLIAC game by committing 18 turnovers in Saturday afternoon's loss.
Sophomore guard Skylar Tolson led the way with 20 points on the day, his fifth time in the last seven games that he has led Westminster in scoring. Senior forward Jake Vislay chipped in nine points as the next high man and junior center Kelsey Weymuth pulled down six rebounds.
Wednesday's game against Fontbonne has been postponed until February 7 at 8 p.m. Until then, Westminster (10-9, 7-3 SLIAC) plays at SLIAC opponent Greenville at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The No. 25 ranked Columbia Cougars came to town and left with an American Midwest Conference win over the Owls on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore guard Logan Decker led William Woods with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field.
Senior guard Dan Anderson had 16 points and freshman guard Jonathon Nutt chipped in 10 points for the Owls. William Woods (9-13, 3-4 AMC) plays at McKendree University on Thursday starting at 7:30 p.m.

The Owls got blitzed by a 20-9 run by Columbia College as they lost for just the second time this season on Saturday. The win kept Columbia College (17-5, 8-0 AMC) undefeated in conference and gave William Woods (20-2, 7-1 AMC) its first defeat in league play.
Junior guard Sharron Andrews led the team with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 from behind the 3-point line. The Owls play McKendree on Thursday at 5:30 p.m..
Owl track teams compete at UCM Mule Relays
WARRENSBURG - The men's and women's indoor track teams competed at the Mule Relays on the campus of the University of Central Missouri on Friday and Saturday.
Sophomore distance runner Ryan Meyer won the men's 3000 meter run, beating out 18 runners with his time of 8:51.62.
Junior Cheryl Held crossed the line in fourth place in her own 3000 meter run. Both teams head to the Illinois College Meet starting Friday.

COLUMBIA - Xavier Hamilton led the "A' team with 20 points in Thursday's loss at Oakland Jr. High School. Hamilton had 20 points again in Saturday's 52-43 home win against Fatima. Fulton (5-11) is Blair Oaks on February 7 starting at 6 p.m.
