Home prices holding steady in Callaway market

Prices of homes are not dropping as rapidly in Callaway County as throughout the nation, a Fulton real estate broker said Thursday.

Joan Berry Morris, broker and owner of RE/MAX Select in Fulton, said "prices of homes in Callaway County are holding steady. But it is true that prices here have not been increasing as much as in the past."

Morris said a person who bought a home three years ago in Callaway County is not likely to have experienced the normal 2 to 4 percent annual increase in value of the property. But unlike many metropolitan areas of the nation, Callaway County property values haven't decreased much, if any, during that three-year period, she said.
