Arrest made after Auxvasse stand-off

A man intruding into a house that had a standing restraining order against him resulted in a three-hour stand-off with police Tuesday night.

According to law enforcement officials, Todd J. Kemp, 32, of Auxvasse, threatened to harm himself when police arrived at the residence of 600 S. Elm St.

Callaway County Sheriff Dennis Crane said Kemp posted a $25,000 bond at about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday from Callaway County Jail. About an hour after that, the Auxvasse Police Department received a call informing officers Kemp was at his former residence. Crane said Kemp's wife had previously obtained a protection order against him.

"The ex parte prohibits him from being at that residence or on that property," said APD Assistant Chief Charlie Anderson.

Kemp's wife was not at home at the time of his arrival. Anderson said an on-duty officer was dispatched to the residence.

"Once the officer arrived, he made verbal contact with the suspect," he said. "The suspect made indication that he was armed."
