Three injured in crash near Mokane

Three Mokane residents were injured in a two-car collision in Callaway County just east of Mokane Wednesday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the accident occurred at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday on Missouri 94 at its intersection with County Road 458.

According to the accident report Charles E. Laughlin, 69, Mokane, was stopped on Missouri 94 to make a turn onto County Road 458 when his vehicle was struck from behind by an eastbound 1988 Dodge driven by Paul A. Albrign, 17, Mokane.

Laughlin sustained minor injuries. Two passengers in his vehicle received moderate injuries. They were Megan R. Custard, 15, and Abbigial A. Patrick, 7. All three were transported by the Callaway County Ambulance Service to University Hospital in Columbia.

The patrol reported both vehicles were demolished in the collision.

Albrign, who was not injured, was wearing a seat belt. None of the three occupants of the Laughlin vehicle were wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol.
