Despite cold temperatures Wednesday, construction crews were pouring concrete footings for a new convenience store that will be located at the corner of North Bluff and 13th streets.

An Xpress Mart will be built at the location, which is across the street from Ovid Bell Press.

Jay Patel, vice president of Xpress Mart, said the convenience store will also include a drive-thru and sell liquor, wine, beer, tobacco products and snack food. He said Xpress Mart has seven other locations in Mid-Missouri but this is the first store to come to Fulton.

Depending on weather, Patel said the store should be open by the end of February.

Schlacks Construction of Fulton is the general contractor on the project.

"We're hoping to be done by the end of January, early February," said Jabbok Schlacks, co-owner of Schlacks Construction.
