Katerina Roesner likes to step back in time.

When Hermann starts hopping for its big, seasonal events, Roesner finds herself dressing the part. The 14-year-old Williamsburg teen spends some of her free time as a re-enactor for the White House Hotel 1868 in Hermann. Becoming about any character from the mid-1800s to early 1900s, Roesner has played a 1920s "flapper," an old west saloon girl, and a respectable lady from the 1880s. What character she decides to be for the day depends on her mood, she says.

During Hermann's Octoberfest, Roesner spent every weekend at the hotel, donning costumes and playing her part for the hotel's Living History Museum. Roesner said she's always liked history, so it's a fun experience for her.
