School of the Osage senior wide receiver Jared Edwards tries to free himself from the grasp of a Fulton defender on a first-quarter run in Friday night's season opener at Osage Beach. Edwards returned two punts for scores and ended up with four touchdowns overall in the Indians' 54-0 dismantling of the Hornets.

OSAGE BEACH - Fulton Hornets head football coach Pat Kelley probably could have done without seeing Jared Edwards on Friday night.

The School of the Osage senior wide receiver did just about everything the Indians' offense could ask - except for throwing the ball to himself, setting up his own blocks and using his sweat to hydrate his teammates during water breaks.

Long story short, Edwards came to play. And Kelley's defense was no match for it.

"He's a kid that got a lot of preseason hype and showed that he deserved it," Kelley said. "He's fearless both as a runner and a returner, and he was a man amongst our young kids ... ."

Edwards gashed Fulton's special teams for two first-half punt returns for touchdowns, scored on a 49-yard reception, a 4-yard run, kicked six extra points and intercepted a pass in Osage's 54-0 blasting of the Hornets in Friday night's season opener.
