The Callaway County Ambulance District Board of Directors approved a change from the district's current debit card system to a purchase card system designed for government agencies during its regular meeting Tuesday night.
Director Charles Anderson requested the switch to the purchase card - which operates through Harris Bank and was recommended by The Callaway Bank - for several reasons: He and assistant director Linda Ellis are the only ones who have a debit card under the current system; the purchase card would allow employees traveling for district-related purposes not to have to use personal funds and then be reimbursed; any employee would be able to be issued a card that can be assigned a specific limit depending upon what the need for the card is, or so that it can be used only at specific locations; and provides better protection from fraudulent charges.
