Westminster men beat Hendrix to get their first win

The Blue Jays got their first win of the season with a 63-53 over Hendrix College in the second game of the Greenville College Classic on Saturday. The win moved the Blue Jays to 1-1 on the season.

Senior forward Jake Vislay scored 23 points to lead Westminster as he was named to the all-Classic after averaging 23.5 points in two games. Forward Justin Glimore added 10 points for the Blue Jays. Westminster travels to Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday to play in the Snyder Classic against Augsburg at 5:30 p.m.

BALDWIN, Kan.,-The Lady Owls continued their torrid start to the season with a four point win against Baker University on Saturday. Baker had a 20-18 lead going into halftime as both team's struggled offensively. Baker shot 25.9% percent in the opening half while William Woods shot 25 percent in that same amount of time.

William Woods (8-0) fared better after the intermission outscoring Baker 36-30 to win a close game. Senior forward Rachel Baker led the team with 19 points, nine rebounds, six steals and three assists on the day. Junior guard Sharron Andrews had 16 points and six rebounds of her own.

The Lady Owls take on the College of the Ozarks on Nov. 30 at 6 p.m.

CANTON - The Owls couldn't get a win streak going as they lost to Rogers State in the final game of the Culver-Stockton Classic on Saturday. Rogers State shot 42 percent for the game and the Owls couldn't find consistent offense on the day.

Sophomore guard Logan Decker led William Woods with 11 points on the day. Two Owls, freshman guard Jonathon Nutt and junior forward Andrew Miller, each had nine points. Miller and freshman guard Dontre Jenkins each had five rebounds.

The Owls play College of the Ozarks on Nov. 30 with a 6 p.m. tip-off.

New Bloomfield Athletic Boosters to host Annual Chilli Supper Scrimmage tonight

The Wildcats will introduce winter sports participants and hold scrimmages tonight 5 p.m. New Bloomfield will recognize their junior high school athletes and serve chilli in the cafeteria starting at 5 p.m. Scrimmages from both basketball teams and the wrestling team will begin at 6 p.m. The price is $3 per person.
